Two artists with two mediums will combine their work for a special two-month show at Second Story Gallery in Camas.
Ami Brimhall brings her abstract paintings and Linda Kliewer will show pierced pottery vessels in a show called "Holding/Space: Presence and Possibility."
Both artists will unveil their work at a First Friday reception from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Gallery, upstairs in the Camas Public Library. The show will continue through Saturday, Nov. 30.
Brimhall describes her acrylic paintings as bold shapes to signify presence, with unfinished marks and even scratches to suggest possibilities. "How do we choose to hold space for ourselves and for each other?" she asks. "My work wants to remind us of optimism and courage."
Kliewer, the ceramic artist, says she forms her pieces and then carves out spaces to represent nature in the form of tendrils and flowers. Most have a simple earthenware finish although she will add interior color and underglaze for emphasis.
At the Oct. 4 reception, Rob Lewis will be providing rhythms on his electronic marimba and refreshments will be served. The Gallery is accessible after library hours at 625 NE 4th Ave.
